Tried it Tuesday - April Fool's Day Jokes, with a freebie!

I'm linking up with my BBB Holly over at Fourth Grade Flipper for another Tried it Tuesday! My tried it this time was a fun one! Every year that it falls on a school day, the kids come in with the "You have a spider on your face" type April Fool's Day jokes. I pretend to laugh and say, "Ha! Good one!" But I've never in my 13 years of teaching taken the time to prepare April Fool's Day Jokes for my kiddos.

Well, today I had a few planned, and I think they were pretty funny. If you're a pinterest fanatic like myself then surely you've seen this one. On the way back from specials this morning, I told my kids that I'd 'prepared them some brownies and already passed them out on their desks.' Of course they got excited until we got back to class and they saw the brown E's that I had prepared. I let them think I was an awful person for a minute before revealing that my intern Chelsea had actually baked them real brownies.  :)

"The person who finds the most words gets
a special surprise!" Mwahahaha.

When the kids walked in the door in the morning I had this waiting for them on their desks. An April word search. Seems legit. Until a few frustrating minutes into it when the kids are realizing that they're having the darnedest time finding any of the words. Well, keep on lookin' kids but you'll never find them! The words are not in there at all.  Haha.

I also told the kids a few white lies just to rile them up a bit.  
1) That from this point forward only cursive handwriting would be accepted, and that even in math I expect to see "cursive numbers." (Which they "should have learned in 2nd grade.")
2) That because they hadn't filled in the bubbles on their state tests in cursive we'd have to take the ones we've done over again.
and...
3) That it was much too cold outside to go out for recess. (It's actually one of the first warm days we've had and we've been doing state tests all morning!)

And of course, I have to play a couple good-natured pranks on my colleagues. So I left this in the teacher's lounge on the lunch table. 



And I prepared another little treat for the hallway outside our classroom. For those of you that don't know, I have a 3 foot long corn snake as a class pet. People are always asking me if she can "get out of her tank." Well, I made it look like she had. Good times!
